Day 1
Bob Marley Mausoleum

Birth and resting place of the legendary reggae superstar Robert Nesta Marley “Bob Marley”, This tour takes you on a journey through the history of Bob Marley’s Life from birth to legendary reggae icon.

The small hamlet town where Bob Marley Mausoleum is located is about two hours and a half away from Montego Bay. It may seem like a long ride, but it’s well worth it, especially if you’re a fan of reggae music or Bob Marley as an artist, singer, and musician.

This is a guided tour, and it is about an hour to three hours long and will take you through Bob Marley’s life, starting with his birthplace and finishing with his place of eternal rest. You will get to see the tomb of Bob Marley, which is elevated to about 6 feet above ground level. You will also get to see his cooking pit and his rock pillow.

The tour is accompanied by a lot of singing and is guaranteed to leave you in awe. It’s highly inspiring to see that someone from such humble surroundings appealed to millions upon millions of people. Once within the mausoleum, you will feel like you’re feet away from one of the greatest musicians of the 20th century.

The tours are open from 9:30 am to 6:30 pm every day and cost $20 – $25, depending on the season.

Ganja smoking

Ganja smoking is legal within the gates of Nine Mile. As a matter of fact, not only it is legal, everyone is expected to have some. As a parent, you may want to reconsider taking a tour if you’re with kids. Similarly, if you’re not a marijuana smoker or if it offends you, you may want to pass on visiting Nine Mile and the Bob Marley Mausoleum.

Day 2
Bob Marley Museum

Enter the Museum and allow us to envelop you with the sights and sounds of Bob, as you take a guided tour of this Jamaican Heritage site. Our friendly, charming, and knowledgeable guides will escort you through the grounds, which include the Main House, Exhibition Hall, Theatre, Gift Shop, and Café.

All the original rooms have been kept as they were when Bob lived here to ensure authenticity.  The displays include a life-size 3-dimensional hologram of Brother Bob from the One Love Peace Concert in 1978, his Grammy Lifetime Achievement award, his personal Recording Studio, his bedroom, favorite clothing, a vast array of Gold and Platinum Records received from all around the World, as well as the costumes of his back-up singers, the I-Threes.

Our air-conditioned Theatre boasts modern state-of-the-art projection equipment, where live performances of Bob are highlighted to each guided tour, the “One Love Café” serves some of Bob’s favorite recipes and juices, and you will find a variety of Bob Marley souvenir items available at the Bob Marley Gift Shop.

Tuff Gong was originally based on Orange Street before moving to 56 Hope Road, which is now the home of the Bob Marley Museum, The Bob Marley Theatre, The Queen of Sheba Restaurant and Things from Africa Boutique.

The company subsequently moved to 220 Marcus Garvey Drive, and includes a recording studio, mastering room, stamper room, pressing plant, cassette plant, wholesale record shop, booking agency, as well as offices for Rita Marley Music and Ghetto Youths International.
